Memorex
Logos the size of planets Perpetual Dance parties the illusion of reality, Hyper Reality. Enforced Science Fiction against Fact The product of our times, Hip Hop Rising, McDonald’s Moonwalk Flips Hot neon colored skateboards in contrast with sleek space ships Kool Aid Man wall busting and the sexiness of machinery, Hi Fidelity electric Energy Power Lightning Rod activation Reintegrated Dynamic of soulless fusion creating the perfect future void filled with objects and no people. A design of what is to come, what we are working toward- the goal and essence of our struggle to achieve.
These are the opening notes I took while watching the latest video opus from Smash TV. Memorex explores the fetishistic relationship Western culture had with products in the 1980s. As explained by Smash TV this video is "a tribute to an entire generation who grew up with only a TV and a VCR for a babysitter." Culled from hours of VHS tapes and warped to fit a heavy synthesized audio backdrop you can expect Memorex to entice the senses and a world that was controlled by power hungry logos, sexy bodies and incredible dance parties.
